BBC

Everyone was talking about Bombay Bicycle Club a while back and it seems I have only just cottoned on to how good they are.

There debut album "I had the blues but I shook them loose" is brilliant blend of sparkly indie guitar, driving heavy bass and interesting memorable vocals. Songs like Evening/Morning and Always Like This portray BBC'S sound to a tee.

Bombay Bicycle Club are one of the newest, youngest and most promising bands around at the moment and I advise you check out their album.

[[[ Expand Your Mind ]]]

Here are just a few of the band im loving at the moment.

Plugs - Made up of one member of Does It Offend You Yeah? and two other member they create awesome danceable electronic music. They are also amazing live.

Jefferson Airplane - 60's band that excelled in the psychedelic sound and are notable the only band to have played all three of the most famous American rock festivals.

Tek One - Very new Dubstep band. They aren't like other dubstep band though they are so much heavier and electro sounding. They have produced an excellent remix of a Bring Me The Horizon Track. Expect to see them getting bigger.

Public Enemy - This classic hip-hop band only came into my consciousness recently through a friend which is surprising considering im a huge fan of NWA. But Public Enemy are defiantly worth checking out.

OTHER THINGS > Vox Humana

So my other two "THINGS THAT I LIKE" posts completely pale in comparison to this one. It's another "re-discovery".

The song is 'Vox Humana' by Deerhunter. At the worst of times Deerhunter are a beautifully realised, forward-thinking band who create wonderfully pure, passionate music. It is music that transcends hype, association and any preconceived notions. There is an endless amount of interesting but utterly pointless pieces of information I could tell you about the members of Deerhunter. After hearing this, I expect that everything and nothing would be a surprise.

ATTENTION: Please listen to this quite loudly, with no distractions. You will find the effects to be practically narcotic.

THINGS THAT I LIKE LATELY> that Abe Vigoda track that was new this year

I just found the Abe Vigoda track 'Don't Lie' on my hard-drive again. I love that voice and the way it plays off the backing vocals and the way they play off the "lead" guitars (if they can possibly be described that way).

For fans of: No Age; The National [seriously, please stop listening to those bands for a while and give Abe Vigoda more of a chance] http://hypem.com/#/search/abe%20vigoda/1/

THINGS THAT I LIKE LATELY> Neon Indian - Psychic Chasms

Every track from this that's more than a minute long has been whizzing around the blogosphere for the whole summer now, so please disregard this if you've heard it all before. However, it really does deserve to be talked about. I spent the summer being tantilised by the tracks, wishing that I could somehow mirror the experiences that must have created them.

All of 'Psychic Chasms' is the kind of glorious, slightly blissed-out, slightly joyous celebration of long hot nights dancing and feeling alive that dozens of bands go for every summer. It's strange that it was left so late to get released this year. Although it's not quite an instant-classic like 'Person Pitch' , it's definitely some of the best summer music I've heard all year. I guess it really does serve to keep the season alive in my mind a long time after we've packed up our beach towels and found new shades to go with our winter coats.

It gives off "synths that sound like guitars/guitars that sound like synths" vibe that's almost reminiscent of a chilled Late of the Pier. The vocals are really low in the mix -the kind of thing that's almost impossible to dislike. The textures and vibes they create are pretty psychedelic, but it's grounded in a care-free simplicity. Like a lot of crazy hyped bands this year, everything sits under a murky lo-fi layer. What's different is that it really sounds like it shouldn't be there at all. At first I thought it was just a bad vinyl-rip or something, but that all gets very unimportant when the music gets under your skin. And you should let it.

This City - We Were Like Sharks

This band had me wowed a long time ago when I first heard the song "We move" on their myspace, now with the release of their debut album "We were like sharks" they have risen to success and with good reason.

This City mix hardcore/indie and punk into one powerful musical concoction. Some people have a problem with the lead singer's accent soaked voice but it grows on you and soon you come to realise it suits the music perfectly.

Songs like "Moving Parts" and "Black & Blue" show of the bands ability to make heavy melodies and other songs such as "Picture This" & "Colours" are far more melodic and listener friendly.

All in all this album covers all the bases and if you start to like This City's sound then you'll grow to love it.

For fans of: Biffy Clyro, Test Icicles, Blakfish.
